Inglewood First United Methodist Church

Inglewood First United Methodist Church will soon see construction begin on the transformation of unused classrooms into 60 units of affordable housing. The Rev. Victor Cyrus-Franklin recently joined the board of Congregational Land Partners (CLP) following his leadership and close collaboration with our team to advance the affordable housing project on the church’s campus. He has shepherded the Inglewood congregation in reimaging its property as a church that will include affordable housing. CLP assisted the Inglewood congregation in the early conceptualization of the process.

The church sees this project as a blessing not only for future residents but for the entire Inglewood community. By repurposing existing buildings, the Inglewood congregation will provide much needed affordable housing and strengthen its commitment to housing justice for local residents. The project will also create space for community programs and services, including workforce development for area workers, weekly food distribution supporting more than 150 families, youth mentoring, music education for preschool children, and support services for seniors and low-income families. As Rev. Victor Cyrus-Franklin put it, “We’re here because our tradition teaches us Jesus says love your neighbors and what better way to love our neighbors then to make sure we can all afford to live here."
